Robin Wolf
P.GEO, PHD Candidate (2024)
I’m a results-driven Exploration Geologist with a passion for uncovering the Earth’s hidden resources. My expertise lies in analyzing and interpreting geoscience datasets, leveraging a strong academic foundation in economic geology and diverse field experience across continents. I utilize a mineral systems approach to generate exploration opportunities across various ore deposit types, and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders at all levels. With proficiency in industry-standard software, I’m well-equipped to support successful exploration programs from concept to conclusion.
Overview
- Results-oriented Exploration Geologist with demonstrated technical expertise related to collection, analysis, interpretation and integration of multiple large geoscientific datasets.
- Practical experience in supporting successful exploration programs, with an academic background related to economic geology and ore deposits from belt to deposit scales, and field experience across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
- Experience with mineral systems approach to generate, evaluate and prioritize exploration opportunities across diverse ore deposits (porphyry copper, orogenic gold, VMS, polymetallic Cu-Au-Ag epithermal, Carlin-type gold, Paleoproterozoic placer gold)
- Able to present exploration results and plans directly to Board of Directors and shareholdersthrough preparation of technical reports for diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Working proficiency with ioGas, Leapfrog, ArcMap, Studio EM, DH Logger andAdobe Illustrator,
Professional Experience
Jan 2020 – Present Research and Teaching Assistant, Institut für Geologie, Bern, Switzerland
- Proficient with multiple analytical methods (LA-ICPMS, Solution ICPMS, SEM, EMPA, XRD, XRF, CNS, Raman, Microscopy) for sample preparation, data collection and interpretation;
- Teaching assistant for Bachelor and Masters level ore deposits practical sessions;
- Teaching assistant for Bachelor and Masters level field courses: ore deposits, alteration and introduction to mapping (Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Switzerland).
- Co-author on three papers: 1 published, 2 in preparation.
July 2016 – Jan 2020 Corporate Geologist/Project Geologist, McEwen Mining, Toronto, ON
- Provided daily technical support to Senior VP Exploration and other executive leadership team members;
- Generated, evaluated and prioritized exploration targets across company’s assets and assisted with evaluation of potential project acquisitions and investments, including new technologies;
- Lead development and implementation of company’s global QAQC guidelines;
- Co-managed and designed an Archean orogenic greenstone gold exploration project (>55,000 drill program) in the Abitibi region of Ontario, Canada, resulting in a new gold discovery and resource.
- Technical writing (PEA, press releases, presentations for AGM, BOD, PDAC, and other meetings).
May 2015 – Aug 2016 Research and Teaching Assistant, Department of Geology, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON
- Performed geochemical experiments in the high-pressure and high temperature, and hydrothermal laboratories.
- Teaching Assistant for the Petrology, Igneous Petrology, and Introduction to Field Methods courses.
May 2013 Geo-archaeological Research Assistant, University of Toronto, Northern Cape, South Africa
- Assisted with the geo-archaeological excavation on the Kathu Pan Archaeological Complex, including lithic analysis on stone tools.
- Conducted GPR surveys to delineate paleosurface of early human ancestors.
May 2011 – April 2012 Geophysics Research Assistant, Department of Geology, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON
- Participated on a multi-disciplinary study with the Ontario Provincial Police investigating the use of near-surface geophysical methods in terrestrial forensic searches.
